Insurance and Payment

The time our highly trained and specialized physical therapists devote to your evaluation and treatment forms the basis for our fees. If we accept your insurance (whether we are in-network or out-of-network), we will file a claim on your behalf. Our experienced staff is available to help answer questions when you call to schedule your appointment.

For your convenience, we accept most major credit cards, debit cards, HSA, FSA, cash, or checks.

Please note: Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Inc. does not participate with all insurance companies.

Full payment is due at each visit.

    To help avoid confusion:

    • Please provide a current insurance card at the time of service.
    • Be familiar with your insurance company’s policy regarding physical therapy benefits, referrals, and preauthorization requirements.
    • Know whether you have out-of-network benefits.

    Direct Access

Starting on July 1, 2023, patients will be able to see a physical therapist directly without any script limitations. Previously patients needed an updated script after 60 consecutive days had passed since the evaluation. Patients with Medicare will still need a script for treatment per Medicare’s rules. Also, as of July 1, 2023, no script will be necessary for any patient to receive dry needling treatments.

Physical therapists are trained to evaluate and treat, as well as refer to an appropriate medical professional for issues that are outside of our scope of practice. If you would like to schedule an evaluation with one of our physical therapists please call our office for additional details (804) 285-0148.

You are the most important member of your own health care team, and you are entitled to choose the most appropriate health care professional to meet you goals.  Click Here to download our Direct Access Form.

    Freedom of Choice

You now have the freedom to choose your own physical therapist in all 50 states.

Keep in mind that your insurance policy may require a visit to the primary care physician first or may limit your access to preferred providers only.

Your physician may refer you for physical therapy that is to be provided in the physician’s office, or to a facility in which the physician has a financial interest. If this is your situation, be aware that you have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE your own physical therapist and that you are NOT OBLIGATED to receive physical therapy in any specific facility. Always insist that your physical therapy be provided by a licensed physical therapist.

Physical therapists who are members of the APTA are bound by the Associations’ Code of Ethics and are especially committed to providing competent and compassionate care.
